Here are just a few custom homes we have designed for clients. We hope you will enjoy their stories!

New Construction

The Keller Residence

Keller home

The Kellers run a family dairy in Fall City, and knew their old, leaning house would not make it through many more winters. We were asked to design a new classic farmhouse that fit their budget, their active farming life, and let the sun shine in. Because it is located in the Snoqualmie River flood plain, we were limited to the then existing 2314 square foot building area to create a comfortable place for a growing family of 6, including a wrap-around, covered porch and a detached garage. The finished home is 2330 square feet on two levels, with 4 bedrooms, 3 baths, and an office.

The Boyd Residence

The Boyd Home

He wanted a log home, and she wanted something more finished - so we worked with them to find a solution that satisfied them both. By combining traditional timber framing, with log trusses in the central great room with structural insulated panels and wood detailing throughout, the interior of the home has a relaxed elegance that lets the sun stream in. The log timbers are Port Orford cedar, felled after a natural occurring organism destroyed the trees' roots. The exterior, finished with stone and stucco, ties the home to its site in the hills west of Yakima.

Van Cleve Residence

The Vancleve Home

The VanCleves came to us with a vision of building in a sustainable way. They also wanted to act as their own contractor, and loved the idea of building with straw bales. We designed the home to reflect the older homes in the area, with a level of finish that belies the low-tech method of construction. They incorporated many energy saving features, including a ground source heat pump, to compliment the super insulated envelope. The metal roof, mill-end wood floors, and wool carpeting were some of the earth-friendly finishes used.

Dearden Residence

The Dearden Home

The Deardens moved to the Seattle area from England and yearned for a home with the solidity and charm of the places they grew up. However, they also have an affection for a more modern lifestyle. They were quite keen for their home to be sustainable and include such features as rain water catchment, ground-source heating, and a wall system with full insulation and recycled content.

Remodels

The Thiele Residence

The Thiele Remodel

Ms. Thiele was looking for a home in Bellevue for herself and her son when she came across a nondescript older house with a large yard. As an antique dealer, she recognized it as a diamond in the rough. As an avid gardener, the yard echoed the same possibilities. So the adventure began - we examined the structure and found it sound, explored some different options for improving the livability, and developed a whole new look with lines true to the home's original era.
